In Targu Mures, Romania, on October 19, 2023 The Erasmus+ Project “Up Rural” celebrated its Multiplier event at the Continental Forum Hotel in Targu Mures, Romania. This landmark occasion gathered 79 participants physically and another 100 participants online. The event included prominent speakers, including representatives of key organizations such as AFIR, AM, PNDR, MADR, LAPAR, Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises, CECCAR and Copa. Also present were representatives of 23 Local Action Groups (LAGs) from Romania, partners of the Erasmus+ Up Rural project, rural development officers trained within the project and various local authorities and media.

Key objectives of the event
  • Dissemination of project results and lessons learned.

Project Outcome 1: Study on work-based learning for a practical, green and digital workplace – “Community Development Officer”

Project Outcome 2: Community Development Officer – Research and Training Materials

Project Outcome 3: Education Platform and Digital Assessment Path

  • Creating opportunities for certified graduates to access future employment.
  • Creating an environment conducive to extending the benefits of the project.
  • Promoting the benefits of sustainable practices and supporting digitalization in rural areas.

Goal of the event

The “Up Rural” Multiplier Event, hosted by the Napoca Porolissum LAG Association, served as a platform for project beneficiaries to present their achievements and promote collaboration with key stakeholders who can subsequently extend the impact of the project beyond the initial partnership and timeline. The main goal of this event is to provide a successful model derived from the project and to work on the organized extension of benefits within a well-defined structure.

Ballyhoura Development recently hosted the Up-Rural! Multiplier event, at the Ballyhoura Winter Networking Forum, hosted by Pallasgreen Community Council. Attendees included relevant stakeholders, working in community development, local community groups from across the Ballyhoura area, representatives from the local authorities, county counsellors and Think-tank for Action on Social Change (Tasc).  

Community members shared their experiences of visiting partner EU countries to learn and share insights from the Ballyhoura experience of community and rural development, with overwhelming support for building stronger links with areas similar to local communities, to facilitate further learning and exchanges. 

Key objectives of the event
  • The event successfully provided a platform for the following:

    • Dissemination of project results and lessons learned.
    • Highlight the effects of the Up-Rural! project and community animation.
    • Provide opportunities for participants to access future employment
    • Suitable networking environment for future benefits of the project
    • Promote the benefits of green activities and support digitisation in rural areas

    There was a strong focus on green, inclusive and sustainable communities with added input on:

    • The Sustainable Development Goals
    • Sustainable Energy
    • Green and Just Transition for the Ballyhoura Development area

Goal of the event

A workshop format facilitated open discussion, sharing of information and key learnings from the project. The value of collaboration, partnership and learning from other European countries was strongly emphasised by community members participating in the EU Erasmus+ Up-Rural! Project.

The Up-Rural! interactive learning platform, showcasing the module content, as well as the innovative video and branch scenarios, was well received as an engaging, accessible and inventive teaching and learning tool.

Location and participants

In January Exeo Lab participated in an International event, held in Torino (Italy). During this event, UP-RURAL project was presented to 40 persons representing wide public, coming from different European countries and areas.

 

Key objectives of the event

The event was an opportunity to talk about project outputs and results, highlighting the possibility offered to 10 people from Italian rural areas to participate in mobility (EBL) in Romania and Ireland.

After welcome greetings and presentation of the venue, it was made an introduction to the organisation’s objectives and European programmes, introduction of partners, general overview of the project and its objectives.

A key objective was  presentation of project outputs and testimonies of some LTTA participants.

The event finalized with a question and answers session and conclusions.

On February 9th, Innovation Hive successfully hosted the culminating event of the Up Rural project, showcasing its objectives and results. This significant occasion was brought to life with the valuable support of the Agia municipality, a village near Larissa renowned for its vibrant agricultural sector and extensive fruit production endeavors. The event, co-organized with the mayor of Agia, witnessed participation from 30 individuals, including municipality staff, social workers, representatives from farmer cooperatives, and young individuals intrigued by the project’s theme.

Key objectives of the event

The presentation of the project’s outcomes and activities not only highlighted its success but also sparked an enthusiastic dialogue between farmers and municipal representatives. This exchange underscored the event’s role in fostering a deeper connection and understanding among participants, serving as a testament to the project’s impact on promoting community engagement and collaboration within the agricultural sector.

On the 19th of February 2024, SYNTHESIS Center for Research and Education hosted the final event of the UpRural project, presenting its deliverables and the lessons learned from the process.  The participants of the event were UCLAN university students and their professors who are in the field of ecological sciences.

The participants had the opportunity to learn about the Learning, Teaching and Training activities of the project in Romania, Spain and Ireland, their purpose and their results.  Discussions were also made on the Community Development Officers, their role and the positive impact they can have in remote rural areas.  The engagement of young vulnerable people who live on rural areas was also discussed as it is one of the objectives of the project

Key objectives of the event

The main aim of the event was to promote the educational platform and the learning material as well as the branch scenarios that were created in the framework of the project.     After the presentation, the participants exchanged thoughts and ideas about the sustainability of the project’s results and their potentials and also engaged on a meaningful discussion on the challenges rural areas face in Cyprus and how the training material of UpRural can help in alleviating some of these challenges.
